Biography

Hi, I’m Nicholas, an undergraduate sophomore at the University of Kansas pursuing a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience. My academic interests focus on cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, particularly how the brain learns, predicts, and adapts to complex, changing environments. I am especially interested in whether higher-order properties like intelligence and abstraction can emerge from general constraints and feedback mechanisms rather than from task-specific objectives or engineered representations. I explore these questions using computational modeling and control theory to study self-organizing dynamical systems. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to pursue graduate training in neuroscience, psychology, or a related computational field. In my free time, I enjoy studying psychopharmacology, working on independent AI and modeling projects, playing jazz guitar, listening to music, and learning Japanese.
